Repairs
If you need a repair, finally you can get rid of internet connection problems! As Perth's internet connection experts, we can help you towards a stable, fast and reliable internet connection. No more waiting for the modem to reconnect, no more waiting for buffering to complete.
With our expertise, knowledge and vast experience in analyzing and repairing internet connections, you can be on your way to a better internet experience quickly.
Your internet connection reliablity and speed will greatly depend on just a handful of factors, all of which we are able to assess and improve.
Factors that affect your internet speed are:
- If you are on a fixed-line connection, the quality and condition of the wiring in your property.
- If you are on a wireless connection, the quality and strengh of your signal.
Wired Connection Problems
Wired connection problems are usually faster than WiFi, but when you are experiencing connection problems, it is usually related to incorrect wiring, faults or as we have found wiring that has been installed by an inexperienced technician, electrician or even DIY.
Telecommunications and internet cabling is best installed and maintained by a trained professional in this field, as a small cabling fault or installation oversight can cause massive connection issues. We have located and repaired many incorreclty installed phone lines, NBN connections, ADSL connections and also Ethernet Data Cabling (LAN cables).
Wireless Connection Problems
Wireless connections can be divided into two parts - WiFi and Mobile (GSM).
WiFi: WiFi is very dependent on good coverage, low interference, and good signal quality. We can assess and improve all of the above using specialised scientific techniques used to determine exactly where WiFi coverage drops off through your property and where WiFi equipment needs to be placed in order to get the best WiFi performance. We can also assess sources of interference, such as interference from other electromagnetic sources in your house, and interference from neighboring WiFi systems.
WiFi is not only about channel selection - a HUGE part of having a good WiFi system is proper selection and placement of your WiFi equipment.
GSM: Mobile connections are usually provided as a backup to fixed line connections by Internet Service Providers. For some rural and semi-rural customers however, mobile connections are the only option.
We have analyzed and corrected many incorrectly installed mobile internet antennas in the past, and we generally find that installations that are done DIY or done by an inexperienced technician lead to intermittent connections on certain days or under certain conditions. As telecommunications specialists with over 20 years working in the industry, our technicians can find these faults and help you get a stable connection.
Our Vast Expertise Covers All the Following Areas:
- NBN - Fibre to the Node, Fibre to the Home, and HFC
- ADSL
- Mobile Connections (GSM, 4G, LTE, 3G)
- WiFi - We can improve the signal throughout your property.
- Phone Lines and connecting old phones and outlets to the NBN.
- Ethernet (LAN Cabling or Data Cabling)
- Modems
- Media Converters
- Internet Protocols (IP/TCP/UDP/ICMP etc.)
- Switching, Gateways and Routing

Benefits of Contacting Us to Repair Your Connection
A Quick Introduction to NBN VDSL
VDSL is a mature broadband technology that has been in use for several years now. It provides a stable platform for both commercial and domestic use and has sufficient bandwidth for regular internet users. If you are experiencing NBN speed issues and/or drop-outs, it's usually due to one or more issues relating to the physical installation, rather than the NBN signalling system. In the vast majority of cases, the issues can be resolved better through an inspection and test by a suitably qualified NBN technician than by the service provider, since most faults are beyond the control of the network operator. In over 90% of cases, customer cabling is to blame for NBN problems.
Below we list the 3 most common reasons NBN may be slow, and how we can help you analyze the problem and improve the performance of your NBN Internet Connection. To many users, NBN is a black box, a mysterious and frustrating waste of time. We can help you change that. NBN is a mature, stable technology, and there's really no reason for you to suffer from internet connection problems.
Common NBN Problems
Reason 1: Cabling Faults
Cabling faults are by far the most common cause of a slow NBN connection. This can range from poor connections and improper cable for the type of use to poor installation standards.
How we can help: Cabling faults cannot be optimally traced and repaired by inexperienced technicians. Our technicians have vast experience in repairing slow internet connections. We’re trained professionals that know exactly what to look for and what the appropriate repair for each kind of fault is.
Reason 2: Filters
Central filters contribute to a substantial amount of NBN drop-outs. ADSL filters were required when ADSL was still around, but for optimal NBN performance they need to be removed.
How we can help: There are different types of filters for different applications. Our NBN technicians know when and where to install each type of filter to get optimal reliability from your NBN installation.
Reason 3: Poor Connection Quality
Poor connections are found everywhere in telecommunications infrastructure, and your home or business is no exception. Often times small issues can cause big disruptions, vast amount of wasted time and much frustration.
How we can help: You cannot fix something unless you’re know what’s broken. We have invested in top-class NBN testing equipment so you don’t have to. We’ve trained on that equipment so you can benefit from our knowledge and experience. Our technicians can trace and repair connection issues quickly and easily, no matter where they are in your installation. Our equipment tells us exactly where along the line a fault is, so we can repair it.

Franklin Bell are ACMA certified cabling contractors. We specialise in the finding and removal and/or rewiring of splitters for NBN connections.
If you have an internet service that's dropping out, disconnecting, or generally just problematic, chances are you need help with the proper setup of your cabling and central splitter.
Splitters are not needed on NBN connections anymore, and unless they're removed, can cause connections to be unreliable and slow.
What Splitters Do
Splitters are electronic devices installed on phone cabling. Their primary purpose were to help ADSL modems work when these modems shared a line with any of the following devices:
- Telephones
- Fax Machines
- Monitored Alarm Systems
- EFTPOS Machines
- Foxtel and/or Similar Devices Using a Land Line
Why were splitters required on ADSL, and why do they need to be removed from NBN connections?
Splitters were required by ADSL connections in order to share the cabling from the phone exchange between internet modems and other devices. Now that Australia has moved to the NBN, these central splitters are causing problems with NBN connections, and need to be removed. The NBN does not share broadband and voice devices on the same line, and therefore splitters are no longer required.
Splitters were required because ADSL is a technology that makes use of older analogue phone lines to provide a digital connection for Internet, E-Mail and other modern services. ADSL modems need these digital signals to carry data. Other devices, however, don't understand these digital signals, and this causes problems. Splitters eliminate these problems by providing ADSL modems with the digital signals they need whilst removing the digital signals for devices that don't understand them.
Benefits of having ADSL central splitters removed from your NBN line
Back in the days of ADSL, central splitters helped ensure that your ADSL modem performs optimally. They're not needed for NBN connections anymore, and removal yields the following benefits:
- Improved NBN Performance
- Better Connection Stability
- Fewer Drop-Outs and Internet Disconnections
Types of Splitters
Splitters are also called filters and they come in two varieties:
- Central Splitters
- Inline Splitters
Inline Splitters
Inline splitters are used where two or more device shares the same phone socket. They're efficient and cost-effective where devices are plugged into the same phone outlet and there are no other devices elsewhere (i.e. another room) on the same line. Inline filters are not the best solution where devices are located in different rooms or where alarm systems are present.
Inline splitters can easily be plugged back in, causing NBN drop-outs and other problems to reappear.
Central Splitters
Central splitters were usually the best option for ADSL performance when you had a monitored alarm system. Modern alarm systems are monitored in other ways, and don't require these splitters anymore.
How do I get a Central Splitter Removed from my NBN connection?
Central splitters need to be removed by ACMA certified cablers as they are hard-wired and their integration into your existing cabling needs to be considered carefully to ensure proper operation of all your telephony devices.
Quite simply by contacting us and booking in your central splitter removal, your NBN connection can be made faster and more stable.
